Enjoying my Journey so far.....

Well this month marks my 2 year anniversary so I decide this post was just going to be picture of my growth over the last two years.  The beginning of my journey started when I was seven months pregnant with my son and just woke up one day and decide to get Sisterlocks. I went from having braids, kinky twist, perms, flat ironing to Sisterlocks with the light brown permed ends which I cut off my myself. This picture chronicle is not in any particular order.

Throughout this journey I haven't done many style cause I don't believe my hair is long enough however hopefully I can get over that and style some more until then enjoy my pictures and remember no on is define by how they wear their hair

Retightening and much more

Helloooo all my beautiful people I'm back with more pictures and also a run down of my experience with doing a deep cleanse with baking soda and apple cider vinegar.  Let's just say I will be doing one at least once every couple of months preferably right before my retightening. My retightening was on June 24, 2012 my consultant said she using a 3pt pattern these past few time she's retighten my hair. Which leaves my hair looking neater and feeling tighter long something I like. Positive point while doing my retightening my consultant didn't mention lint once. (hhoooooray) Maybe the baking soda and apple cider have something to do with that. I don't really have that much to talk about I will be posting pictures.

Day after grooming

Yesterday I had an appointment with my sisterlock consultant for a grooming.  Before getting there I was kind of nervous.  Had look to the LIU group through Yahoo to maybe give me some information let's just say they were no help what so ever. Then I turned to the LoCs N DreaDs group on Facebook those people were so helpful in letting me know what I should expect from this grooming.  However for some reason that didn't help my nervous once I got in her chair.  The first thing I asked befor we even got started was, "Are you going to cut my hair?"  She explained to me that this grooming would only involve her going along the side of the lock cutting off all the hair that is sticking out.  I went to her house around 9:50 we started around 10:00 I didn't walk out of house until 3:30 it took longer to groom my locks then it does for me to get them retightened.

Let Me just say I can notice a BIG difference in my locks since the grooming first after cutting all that hair I came straight home and washed my hair.  My haid does feel as heavy when its wet plus it dries a lot faster then it had been.  Another difference is it does look all puffy like it did it looks a more more neat and in my opinion of my hair more like sisterlocks.Let me just say I can't wait to put curls in my hair to see if there is a difference on that end. Anywho I will be posting picture of before the groom and after. Plus some pictures of my a few days after my loc loops. Let me all just remember it may look like I need a retightening but I just gor one on 5/14/12

On my way to the appointment can you see how fuzzy it looks. The other day I was moving something around the outside of my mom's house went in the bathroom and saw a spider climb around on my babies i almost had a heart attack. My hair is so thick you can't even tell I had my hair retightened.

Once my appointment right before I was about to get in her hair. I didn't think to take a picture of all the hair she cut off until aftr I was home putting conditioner in my hair LOL oh well I sure ther will be other grooming in the near picture I will just remember that for the next time.

Looking at those picture above you can see the difference in my hair. No more fuzz or should I say less of it to go around.  I really am liking my new groomed look the lonly problem I can say I've had is both my consultant and my mom say they can see the lint from when I was firsted lock really well now that she cut all that extra hair off. These means I will be dying my hair soon to cover up what I can't pick out.

20 months and counting.....

Hello Ladies and Gents!!!

I know I've been gone for a while but finding the time to actually sit down and write on my blog is difficult I'm extremely busy with work, school, and my precious little boy. Plus, I'm guilt of being unorganized and this is something I'm trying to work on but it takes time.  That's beside the point I'm here now write and that's all that matter at this point. I have been trying to take picture so I can keep track of my progress.  Starting today May 18, I will being trying to take a picture everyday to show my growth.

Anyway let get down to business my sisterlocks they are 20 months I can't believe in less then four month I will be locked for two years (WOW!!!!!!!) where has the time gone.  I dont know but boy this has been and adventure. (with feeling of love/hate for my babies more love though) Just recently this past Monday May 14, 2012 I got my hair reightened. The day after my retightening I asked my lockitican how far away are my locks from reaching the final phase which is the matted phase. SHe  told me during my appointment she tried a tighter pattern on my locks this time. And she notice a good majority of my locks at the end were exetremely swollen.  She suggested that we make an appointment so that I could come in and she could groom my locks.  From how she explained it she's going to be trimming my hair to take away some of the bulkiness from the end of my locks. I will be documenting the before and after of my hair to see if there is a noticable difference. 

With my lockitican trying a new pattern on my head I could tell the difference.  My hair felt tighter then previous retightens that I've had.  After previous retighten my hair seemed to look fuzzy after a few days and I haven't had that problem so far.  I recently decide to order some lock loops.

I put the lock loops in Wednesday morning and they didn't come out until Friday morning. First I washed my hair with the sisterlock Aloe Salon formula and Mane N Tail gentle conditioner.  Before wrapping my hair in the lock loops I sprayed my hair down with the Jamaican Mango and Lime No More Itch Spray.  I used Motions setting lotion to help my curls last longer. Let me just say I don't have a problem sleeping in anything from perm rod to flex rods. But sleeping in these curlers felt like I had an extra pillow or something on my head. Here are pictures of what my lock loop curls look like.

 This is the result I got from the my lock loops what do y'all think? I cant wait to see what it will look like when they fall.

Happy New Year Everyone.......

My locks are 17 month now and wow have they grown.  Recently I have been having a problem keeping curls in my locks.  The two products I was using but not at the same time, Isoplus amd TCB styling foam, and none of them seem to work no matter how much I use.  Before I curl my hair I always wash it with Jamican Lime & Mango shampoo and conditioner.  I love the way this stuff smells.  Now I have had this problem before which I really shouldn't being saying its a problem. All of this is happening because MY HAIR IS GROWING.

I decide to go to my yahoo group Lock It Up and all those lovly ladies suggested some every good products a few of them aren't available to me.  So I ended up going to Target and getting some Motion's foaming took out my sponge rollers curlered my head and let it set for a night all the way to the next midday.  That's stuff works good I love it granted my the back only stayed in for two days but the top managed to stay for a week. Plus I talked to my aunt who lives out a state where they have Krink & Kurls.

It has been a year

  Hello everyone I know its been a while since I've posted a picture and I have some to put up today since I celebrated my Lock Anniversary August 30, 31. What can I say I have truly been busy trying to adjust to being a mom still, juggling housework, work, and now I have decide to go back to school and get my BSN cause healthcare is truly where my passion is. While celebrating my locks turning a year old my son also turned 10 months the same day my locks turned a year how funny is that.

  Anywho I can't believe that's already been a year that I got my sisterlocks.  And let me say I truly love this journey I am almost completely lockd expect for few locks that keep coming out. Honestly that is truly my fault for some reason even a year later I can't seem to stop picking at a few of my locks or maybe I shouldn't use the word picking but I do love to run my finger through my hair and every once in a while I find something in my lock like lint or something and I start to pick. The consequence for my doing that is slippage and sometime the whole lock can unravel.  Which sucks when it comes to re tightening cause that's longer I have to spend in my consultants chair that means  more money I'm spending,

  Tomorrow is my re tightening I'm going to post some pictures at the bottom to show what it looks like the night and right before I wash it.  After I wash it I'm going to do a braid out which I will be wearing right up until my appointment. Picutre of my braid before and after I take it out will be coming soon and what it looks like all done.
